Biography

Zainab Usman is the director of the Africa Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, D.C. She was previously at the World Bank as a Public Sector Specialist. She has also worked at the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford, the International Crisis Group, and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). She is a political-economist working at the intersection of institutions, policy and politics in economic development, energy, natural resources and the future of work.
