At Bloomsbury, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) is not an initiative but a core part of our everyday working lives.
We are dedicated to making publishing a fair industry to work in, that is representative of the diverse society we live in today, and is strengthened by voices and experiences of people from different backgrounds and identities.
In 2021, we won the London Book Fair Inclusivity in Publishing Award, and the Independent Publishers Association Diversity & Inclusivity Award in recognition of how far we have come.
While we are proud of the progress we have made, we recognise that there is so much more to do. Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Action Plan sets out how we are working for meaningful change.
“Bloomsbury’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion is global in its reach, and is woven through every aspect of our company. We recognise that we and the wider publishing industry have a long way to go to bring diverse voices into the publishing industry; from increasing the diversity of our employees at all levels of seniority, to publishing voices that represent our multicultural society.”
“Since launching our Global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Action Plan in 2021, created in collaboration with staff, we have been driving tangible positive change across all areas of our business and contributing to wider industry discussions and initiatives. We are determined to do the vital work needed to make publishing a more inclusive industry, both in terms of authors and employees and know that diversity in our organisation leads to better culture and performance.”
Bloomsbury is committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion and is opposed to discrimination, bullying, and harassment. We condemn individual and systemic racism in society in all its forms. We are dedicated to actively and continuously improving both our industry’s practices and our own company. Read our values here.
